The Pan-African Youth Conference (PAYC) is organized by the African Students’ Association (ASA) at the University of Notre Dame and seeks to foster a common understanding and diagnosis of Africa’s challenges amongst African students across the world. The inaugural edition of the conference will be held virtually on March 27, 2021. The Conference will bring together university students from Africa and across the world with the goal of fostering a common understanding of Africa’s challenges through critical debate and discussions. All discussions at the Conference will seek to answer four critical questions: Who we are as Africans? Where are we as a continent? How did we get here? How do we go from here? The Conference will be headlined by two keynote addresses.
A critical mass of united, socially and politically conscious young Africans with a critical understanding of Africa’s challenges and an unwavering commitment to her emancipation.
Discussions at the Conference will proceed within three specialized committees. Participants will be allocated to committees according to their order of preference as indicated at registration. The committees will proceed in a seminal reading format i.e. committee chairs will provide participants three readings. Participants will be expected to do these readings in advance of the conference as these will form the basis of discussion within the committees.
